TRENDING: Kpop star CL’s commentary on Paper Magazine

In the kpop sphere, a new bout of controversy has risen from CL’s commentary about Asian women on Paper Magazine (click here to know more). Many fans felt unhappy about CL’s generalization of Asian women, and gave a lot of backlash. I thought it’d be interesting to look into this controversy, as it has a lot to do with my own self-image as an Asian-American young woman.

TRENDING: Buzzfeed – Can It Be Feminist to Wear Makeup?

You know, it’s not really feminist if you disrespect what I genuinely enjoy, simply because it is a traditionally feminine interest.

In January, Buzzfeed posted a video called “Can It Be Feminist to Wear Makeup?” It showed two sisters, one who loves makeup and another one who is more into academic and stereotypically geeky interests (cue Dr. Who theme music). As these two sisters battle it out, we hear some insight into the complex relationship between girls and makeup. Here are a few screenshots.
