#RED: My Red Lipstick Collection

Hark! I hear February in the distance – I hear the beckoning of St. Valentine’s day!

Whether you are spending Valentine’s with a special someone or just chillin’ by yourself, February is the perfect month to rock a bright red lip (I’m talking Taylor Swift style, you feel). Here is my collection of red lipsticks, including stunning colors as well as shades that… really never worked out for me. Let’s dive in!

I will be sharing bright reds (The Face Shop, NARS, NYX), darker/burgundy reds (Colour Pop, Etude House) and a red-toned nude (Make Up For Ever). There are also a range of formulas: Matte (Colour Pop, NARS), Satin/Creamy (NYX), and Satin/Glossy (MUFE, Etude House).

Here are some swatches – then, I’ll talk about my favorite and least favorite products:

Winners:

The Face Shop Edge Lip Crayon – RD02:

Such a stunning orange-red lip shade that makes you look super young and fresh. Stays on the lips even after eating and fades gracefully, even though it’s a matte lipstick! Teardrop applicator is super efficient and slides snugly onto lips without tugging. Lipstick is almost expired…oh, to think I need to scour the web to find a duplicate shade/formula…

Colourpop Ellarie:

Another matte lippie that is definitely darker and more sophisticated than The Face Shop. Matte finish, not quite as vampy as the swatch above. Won’t fade easily as well! A great summer-fall transition matte (not glossy like Etude House) lipstick

Bleh:

NYX Creamy Lipstick – Hero:

First of all, when I bought it online, their color swatch was way darker and more burgundy, but the actual product is a bright, blue-toned red (brighter than NARS Cruella) that clashes with my skin tone. In addition, this particular formula is extremely, unbearably creamy! I get teeth transfers almost immediately, regardless of what I do!

And that’s that! Stay tuned and follow this blog for more posts like this.
